About us

Jimmy Egan’s Boxing Academy CIC is in the heart of Wythenshawe, and we thrive on providing opportunities for members of our community. We have a wealth of experience, which we have been building since 1980, when the legend Jimmy Egan first opened the doors. 

We are a family club, and everyone is welcome. You will be training alongside people from all walks of life.

The club is run by volunteers who dedicate their time and expertise to developing and nurturing everyone who enters the door.

 Our commitment and dedication allowed us to become a CIC (Community Interest Company) in November 2024, which is befitting of a club that is a staple of the local and broader community.

Everyone associated with the club carries the Egan name and ethos, whether a coach, supporting staff member, or boxer. Boxing is about discipline, respect, hard work, and commitment. You can train to compete, get physically fit, or get mentally fit. Everyone who walks into our gym has their own story and dreams.

We have celebrated countless Regional and National champions, 33 National champions since the passing of the great Jimmy Egan in 2004, demonstrating that hard work pays off. 

We are all committed to providing everyone in our community and beyond an opportunity to shine.

We have trained several local boxers who have entered the professional game. Each has made their mark, competing at National and European levels. The most notable is Tyson Fury, who dominated on the World stage and became a multiple-time World Heavyweight Champion.
